Miss Malena's 2nd Birthday

My baby Malena turned two on August 4th.  She had a party in the community room at our apartment building, and a lot of her friends came to celebrate!   The party was "loosely" animal themed.  I didn't plan any games or activities, knowing that most of the kids at the party would be 2 or under.  The kids ate snacks and cake and played together (or alone, next to eachother. hehe) and the moms socialized- it was really fun!

 Ella, are you flirting?

I served small sandwiches- on regular bread, cut into 1/4s, small bags of chips, animal crackers, veggies and dip, with lemonade and Sprite to drink. Auntie Ang made a beautiful cake with animals on it, everyone was super impressed- it was awesome.

The highlight of the day (for me at least) was the look on Malena's face when everyone was singing Happy Birthday to her- complete, utter awe and joy- it made all the work of putting the party together completely worth it, with just that one beautiful expression.  (I get a little emotional thinking about it.)

Malena got a ton of awesome gifts from her pals: a big-wheel, a baby doll set (baby cries and laughs), a toy pizza-making kit, a Coogi outfit, books, crayons, gift cards, a pillow pet (from Mommy)... one of her favorite items was a dress-up set- it came with bracelets, necklace, purse, and little heels! She was walking around in the heels outside after the party...

After our guests all went home and we got everything cleaned up, I took the girls to Canal Park to walk around as it was getting dark. We sat and watched a ship go thru the canal, walked on the bridge, and waved to a tour boat leaving the harbor. It was the perfect end to a great day, and I was happy to have some time alone with just my babes. (and hoards of tourists.)

Happy 2nd Birthday to my beautiful little Pumpkin Butt! Mommy loves you!
